Siding is what stands between your house and a Northern Michigan winter. We install vinyl and composite siding, soffit and fascia across the Grand Traverse area — licensed, insured, and trained and certified by the manufacturers whose materials we put on.

The most common choice on Northern Michigan homes, and for good reason — it holds colour, sheds water and asks almost nothing of you once it is on. The range of profiles and colours is wider than most people expect.
More about vinyl siding →Heavier, deeper-grained and tougher under impact than vinyl. Worth the difference on an exposed elevation, or where you want the look of wood without the upkeep of it.
More about composite siding →The underside of the eave, and the part that lets your attic breathe. Vented soffit is half of what keeps a roof deck cold enough to stop ice dams forming.
More about soffit →The board along the roof edge that the gutters hang from. When it goes soft, the gutters go with it — which is why we look at it whenever we are up there.
More about fascia →Siding here does more work than siding almost anywhere else. Wind off the bay drives rain sideways into every seam, the freeze-thaw cycle runs from autumn to spring and works at anything that holds water, and snow sits against the lower courses for months. What matters is not only the panel but how it is hung — proper house wrap behind it, room for the material to move as the temperature swings forty degrees, and flashing detailed where the siding meets windows, doors and the roofline. Siding that was nailed tight on a warm day is the siding that buckles in February.
The cladding, the soffit under the eave and the fascia along the roof edge are the same material and the same crew, and they are all exposed at once when the old siding comes off. Doing them together costs less than coming back, and it is the only point at which anyone can see whether water has been getting in behind the fascia — which you cannot tell from the ground, and which is how a siding job becomes a roof job a few years later. If the gutters are coming down anyway, that is also the moment to look at them.
We walk the outside of the house, look at what is on it now and at what is underneath where we can see it. You are not buying from a catalogue photo.
The scope, the material and the price in writing before anything comes off. If part of the house only needs a repair, we say so.
Our own crew, working to the manufacturer spec, scheduled around the weather rather than ahead of a storm.
We haul the old material away, magnet-sweep for fasteners and go over the finished job with you before we leave.
Tell us what the house has on it now and we will come and look at it.
Get A Free Estimateor call (231) 377-3620It depends on what you want the house to look like and what you want to spend. Vinyl is the lighter, lower-cost option and comes in a wide range of colours and profiles. Composite is heavier, holds a deeper wood grain and takes impact better, which matters on an exposed elevation. We will show you both against your own house rather than a brochure, and we will tell you where the cheaper option is the sensible one.
Usually, and it is normally the right call. The soffit and fascia are the same material and the same crew as the cladding, and they are already exposed once the siding is off — so doing them together costs less than coming back for them later. It is also the point at which we can see whether water has been getting behind the fascia, which you cannot tell from the ground.
We strip it, inspect the sheathing underneath and haul the old material away. What is under the siding is the part worth paying attention to: if there is soft sheathing or water damage we show you before anything new goes on, because covering it up is how a siding job turns into a much larger one a few years later.
Often, yes, though cold changes how the material behaves — vinyl in particular gets more brittle and needs more care when it is cut and fastened. We work through the season and schedule around the forecast. If conditions would compromise the job we will say so rather than push on.
We work across Northern Michigan from Traverse City — including Traverse City, Cadillac, Ludington, Manistee, Petoskey, Houghton Lake and the surrounding communities.
Wow! What a great experience with Cherry Town Roofing. They recently replaced our roof and were on time, on budget and their attention to detail was incredible. The workers kept us informed as to their progress and kept the work site clean and orderly. When the project was completed they met with us to answer any questions and to be sure we were satisfied with the results. Couldn’t be happier!
Read on GoogleI have used Chris, Cherry Town for years. They have installed new flat and resedential roofs on my properties. Recently they installed a new commercial flat roof on one of my downtown buildings. They are always on time and budget. Never had to worry about them. Chris has always gone above and beyond to make sure it’s done right and to my satisfaction. I would recommend them which is rare for me to do.
