A roof is the one part of your house that is working every day of a Michigan winter. We replace, repair and maintain residential roofs across the Grand Traverse area — licensed, insured, and trained and certified by the manufacturers whose materials we install.

When a roof is past repair, we strip it to the deck, check what we find underneath and rebuild it properly — underlayment, ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, flashing, ventilation and new shingles. You get a written plan before anything comes off.
Leaks, wind-lifted shingles, failed flashing around chimneys and vents, and the damage ice dams leave behind. We find where the water is actually getting in rather than patching where it shows up inside.
Architectural asphalt shingles from the manufacturers we are trained and certified on, installed to their spec so the system performs the way it is meant to.
Northern Michigan takes roofs apart with wind, snow load and freeze-thaw. We inspect after a storm, document what we find and tell you plainly whether it needs a repair or a replacement.
Lake-effect snow, a freeze-thaw cycle that runs all season and wind off the bay are hard on a roof in ways a catalogue spec does not capture. Snow load stresses the structure, ice dams force water backwards under the shingles, and the repeated freezing and thawing works at every seam and fastener. We build for that: ice and water shield where water actually backs up, flashing detailed properly at chimneys and valleys, and ventilation that keeps the deck cold so the snow on your roof is not melting from underneath.
We look at the whole roof system — decking, ventilation, flashing and the attic where we can get to it — not just the spot that is leaking.
You get the scope, the materials and the price in writing before work starts, so there are no surprises halfway through a tear-off.
Our own crew, working to the manufacturer spec, with the site kept tidy while the job runs.
We magnet-sweep for nails and leave the property the way we found it. The last thing you should be doing is picking fasteners out of your lawn.
Tell us what the roof is doing and we will come and look at it.
Get A Free Estimateor call (231) 377-3620Age, and how widespread the problem is. A roof with isolated damage and plenty of life left is usually a repair. If shingles are curling or losing granules across the whole surface, or there are leaks in more than one place, replacing it costs less than repairing it repeatedly. We will tell you which one you are looking at after the inspection, and we will say so if a repair is the right answer.
Most single-family homes in the Traverse City area are a one to two day job once we start, weather permitting. We schedule around the forecast rather than opening a roof up ahead of a storm.
Often, yes, but it depends on the temperature and the material. Asphalt shingles need to seal properly, and that is slower in the cold. If conditions are wrong for a lasting job we will tell you and, where the roof is leaking now, do a repair to get you through until it can be done right.
Ice dams form when heat escaping into the attic melts snow on the roof, which then refreezes at the cold eaves and backs water up under the shingles. The roof itself is only half of it — ventilation and insulation are the other half. A proper replacement includes ice and water shield at the eaves and gets the ventilation right, which is why we look in the attic.
We work across Northern Michigan from Traverse City — including Traverse City, Cadillac, Ludington, Manistee, Petoskey, Houghton Lake and the surrounding communities.
